Bulldogs Erupt Offensively, Rout Porterville 13-3 to Sweep Doubleheader

Carver Tippitt and Bill Daly had three hits and two RBI each, while three other Bulldogs had multiple hit games as the Allan Hancock College baseball team crushed Porterville 13-3 to complete a doubleheader sweep on Saturday. Hancock improved to 10-8 overall and Porterville fell to 6-12.

After Porterville scored one in the top of the first, Hancock answered back in the bottom of the third. Zach Lampreia grounded out with the bases loaded to score Justin Daraban, but Ryan Peinado also scored on an error by the second baseman on the same play. The Bulldogs added to their lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Peinado that scored Tippitt to make it 3-1. Hancock added three more in the fifth on a RBI-single from Hunter Christensen, and a two-run single off the bat of Daly that made it 6-1. RBI-doubles from Jacob Tonascia and Christensen in the sixth gave Hancock an 8-1 lead. Hancock put the game on ice with a five-run seventh that included a RBI-single from James Fitzmaurice, a two-run home run by Colby Barrick, and a two-run double from Tippitt.

Lampreia, Tonascia and Christensen had two hits apiece, while Daly and Tippitt collected their first three-hit games of the season.

Barrick, Christensen, Tippitt and Daly each drove in two runs. Barrick clubbed his first home run of the season.

Isaiah Ramos improved to 3-0 on the season. The Righetti High School graduate scattered seven hits over six innings. The sophomore walked one and struck out three.

Matt Reynolds threw a scoreless seventh inning, while Diego Rodriguez and Tonascia each allowed one run in an inning of work.

Hancock will return to action Tuesday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m. when the Bulldogs return to conference action and host Moorpark.
