Christensen Leads Hancock Offense to 8-3 Win over Moorpark

Hunter Christensen fell a double shy of hitting for the cycle, and Isaiah Ramos won his eight straight decision as the Allan Hancock College baseball team defeated Moorpark 8-3 on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs improved to 10-11 in conference and 18-15 overall. The Raiders fell to 12-11 in league and 16-19 on the season.

Christensen had three hits, two RBI and scored twice. Left fielder Kyle von Tillow, and Justin Daraban had two hits each. Zach Lampreia and Daraban each drove in two runs.

Hancock opened the scoring in the first when von Tillow singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Colton Studebaker, and scored on a RBI-single from Jacob Tonascia. Moorpark tied it 1-1 with a run in the second, before the Bulldogs regained the lead 3-1 on a two-run double from Daraban. The Raiders tied it in the third, but once again the Bulldogs answered as Lampreia delivered a RBI-single to give Hancock the lead for good at 4-3. Daraban added to the lead with a RBI-single in the fourth inning.

In the fifth, Tonascia was hit by a pitch and scored on a RBI-triple to the gap off the bat of Christensen to make it 6-3. The Bulldogs wasted no time adding to the lead on a suicide squeeze executed by Lampreia to score Christensen to put Hancock up 7-3.  Christensen capped the scoring and his career day by blasting a solo-home run to lead off the seventh, his second of the season.

Ramos improved to 8-0 with six and one-third innings. He allowed three runs and scattered nine hits. He walked three and struck out two. Jason Terrones threw two-thirds of an inning of shutout relief. Tonascia added two shutout innings of relief to close the game. He allowed one hit and issued one walk.

Hancock returns to action Tuesday at Moorpark before closing the season against Santa Barbara City College.
