Baseball's Ricardo Rodriguez Headed to OUAZ

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Allan Hancock College pitcher, Ricardo Rodriguez, has committed to continuing his academic and athletic career at Ottawa University (Arizona) next season.

"OUAZ felt like home once I stepped on campus. The city felt like I was at home in Nipomo." Rodriguez shared. "The facilities and the school are very nice and I'm really excited and even more motivated to go. They offer a lot there and they are a big sports-centered school."

The Nipomo native recently completed his second countable, third overall, season with the Bulldogs. Rodriguez, a right-handed pitcher, appeared on the mound in 16 games this season. He struck out 12 batters and ended the season with a 6.86 ERA after 19.2 innings of work. As a true freshman, Rodriguez earned one win and struck out eight batters in as many appearances during the shortened season.

"I believe my time here at Allan Hancock has definitely prepared me for success at the next level," Rodriguez added. "The baseball program here really has a DI 'feel', which I think gives me the upper hand because I know what to expect at the next level."

Ottawa, located in Surprise, is a member of the NAIA and competes in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
