Baseball's Jacob Ortega Commits to University of Antelope Valley

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Allan Hancock College baseball standout, Jacob Ortega, has committed to continuing his academic and athletic career at the University of Antelope Valley next season.

"I chose UAV because they were persistent and professional when recruiting me," Ortega shared. "They are giving me an opportunity to play in a position where I feel like I can succeed, which is something that is very important to me."

Ortega recently completed his first countable, second overall, season with the Bulldogs in the spring. The Las Vegas native finished the season with a .207 batting average while registering 13 RBIs and two homers on 24 hits. Ortega also finished the season with a .987 fielding percentage after switching between infield and outfield positions throughout the regular season. During the 2021 campaign, the Faith Lutheran High School alum was tabbed as a Second Team All-Conference selection after posting a .322 batting average and a perfect effort in the field.

"The coaches at AHC really prepare us for the next level by creating a culture within the program that pushes us and brings out the best in each of us," Ortega added. "They also prioritize the importance of the 'team-first' mentality, which helps us all build a strong chemistry with one another throughout the season."

UAV, located in Lancaster, is a member of the NAIA and competes in the California Pacific Conference.
