Baseball: Nunez Pushes Bulldogs Past Pasadena City in Extra Inning Victory

PASADENA, Calif. - A two-run shot over the outfield fence in the 10th inning from Brayan Nunez pushed the Allan Hancock College baseball team past the hosting Pasadena City College Lancers en route to a 7-5 victory on Tuesday afternoon. The win moves the Bulldogs to an overall record of 22-11 on the season and stretches the current active win streak to six while Pasadena City falls to 19-13 on the year.  | BOX SCORE

Bats were quiet for both sides through the opening frames of action as the two teams combined for just five hits across the first five innings, with the Lancers scoring once on an RBI single in the second. Gavin Long put the Bulldogs on the board in the sixth with a two-run homer, but Pasadena quickly responded by scoring three runs in the bottom of the frame. Hancock briefly erased the deficit in the seventh when a double from Isaiah Hernandez, a single by Niko Pecskovszky, and a sacrifice fly by Pascual plated one run apiece, but the home squad knotted the score after capitalizing on a wild pitch in the bottom half of the inning. Pecskovszky stepped up first in the extra frame with a single and advanced to second on a stolen base before Nunez cleared the way in the next at-bat with his shot over the fence.

Anthony Lopez collected his third win of the season on the bump after tossing a hitless three-innings, which included a pair of strikeouts, to close out the contest. Cooper Bagby earned the start but did not factor into the final decision after five innings of work.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to host Pasadena City on Thursday, April 13th, at 2:30 PM to close out the non-conference slate of play. Single-game tickets can be purchased here. As per usual, the ticketing gate will be cashless and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets prior to arrival, but credit/debit card purchases can be made at the gate.
