Baseball Secures Two Wins During Clash at the Canyons

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College baseball team secured two wins and suffered one loss during a three-day showing at Clash at the Canyons over the weekend in Santa Clarita. 

The Bulldogs opened the road trip with an 8-3 win over Cosumnes River College on Thursday afternoon before falling to the hosting Cougars (6-3) on Friday. The trip came to a close with a 10-inning thriller on Saturday when Hancock upset Mt. San Jacinto College, 6-5, who had entered the day with an unscathed 7-0 record. 

Stephen Espinoza led the Bulldogs at the plate with a .455 average while notching four singles, one double, and three RBIs through three games. Julien Sepulveda posted a red-hot average of .750 in the box after going 3-for-4 through two games. Gavin Long came through for Hancock on day three with the walk-off RBI single in extra innings to secure the victory.

Nick Brown and Austin Moccardini each picked up wins over the weekend. Brown struck out six batters and surrendered two earned runs after tossing seven innings in the opener. Moccardini entered as the closer on Saturday and secured the victory after tossing the final three innings.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Tuesday, February 13th, with a trip to College of the Sequoias for another non-conference showdown.
