Hancock Football Changes Game Times
The Allan Hancock College football team will kick off at a new time this season. Instead of a 6 p.m. start time, all home games will now begin at 4 p.m. The change was made in accordance with the Southern California Football Association’s new guidelines allowing teams to move games to an earlier, mutually agreed upon, time.
The football program decided to pursue the schedule changes because of safety concerns, said Kim Ensing, associate dean/athletic director, kinesiology, recreation and athletics at Hancock. An earlier start time translates into less time teams will have to spend travelling late at night. Most of the Bulldog’s away games have also been switched to 4 p.m. The move will also help teams save money on utility fees for stadium lights.
Hancock will continue to host a series of special events at home football games during the 2012 season, including “Youth Football Night”, “Military Appreciation Night” and “Alumni Appreciation Night”.
