Hancock Football Ranked No. 18 Headed Into Saturday's Game Against No. 6 Canyons

After losing by three points to both No. 2 Long Beach and No. 7 Cerritos in back-to-back games, the Allan Hancock College football team remains ranked in the top 20 in the state poll. The Bulldogs, who are now 1-1 in conference and 3-3 overall, slid six spots to No. 18 in this week's California Community College Football Athletic Association's poll of football coaches.
 
Hancock received 107 points overall in the voting. In its last two games, Hancock lost on a last-second field goal to then-No.2 Long Beach and fell 31-28 to Cerritos. Long Beach, which is 7-0 for the first time since 1988, is the new top ranked team in California. Cerritos (5-1) climbed two slots to fifth this week in California. Hancock's opponent on Saturday, Oct. 24, Canyons (5-1) is the sixth ranked team in California.
 
Long Beach received 11 of the 13 first place votes this week. Golden West (6-0) jumped one spot to second, while San Francisco (6-1) and Riverside (5-1) are third and fourth. Cerritos and Canyons are fifth and sixth, Modesto (4-2) is seventh, followed by American River (4-2), Santa Rosa (4-2) and San Mateo (4-2). Saddleback (5-2), Chabot (4-2), Fresno (4-2), Ventura (4-3) and Fullerton (4-3) are tabbed 11th through 15th.
 
The Bulldogs will look to snap a two-game skid at Hancock Football Field this Saturday at 2 p.m. against Canyons. Cerritos and Canyons are both undefeated in conference action and tied for first place. Hancock will host Military Appreciation Day. All United States veterans and active military members will receive free admission and lunch.
