2019 Allan Hancock College Football Season Preview

With the Allan Hancock College football team starting off its 2019 season with a bye week and the El Camino scrimmage, fans won't see the Bulldogs in regular-season action until Sept. 14.

The following is a look ahead at this season's schedule

Sept. 14 vs. LA Valley

The Bulldogs home opener will give fans a good idea of what they can expect from the team this season. Last season, Hancock defeated LA Valley 26-14. Despite the times of possession during the game (Hancock 30:19 LA Valley 29:41), the Bulldogs capitalized on their opportunities, rushing for 234 yards and throwing for 124 yards.

Sept. 21 at Ventura

The first road game of the year will be against Ventura. In 2018, Ventura was Hancock's first and only loss of the season, 29-28. Hancock had a huge game on the ground, with 304 yards. Unfortunately, that was not enough to outscore Ventura. To win against Ventura this year, Hancock must minimize turnovers, because the four in last season's matchup proved to be costly.

Sept. 28 at West L.A.

The Bulldogs had a 50-point win against West L.A. in 2018, beating them 70-20. The Bulldogs also had nearly 500 yards on the ground and no turnovers. This game was the second-highest scoring game (81 in 2005) in Hancock Bulldog history.

October 5th vs. Citrus

The second home game comes in the fourth matchup of the season, against Citrus. Last season, there were moments of stellar defense for Hancock, who defeating Citrus 28-21. The game was close, but Hancock was able to outrush their opponents 180 yards to 42 yards.

Oct.12 at Antelope Valley

Antelope Valley hosts Hancock this year for a 6 p.m. night game. The Bulldogs previously beat Antelope Valley 26-3. In that game, Hancock's dominant defense did not allow another score after a field goal on Antelope Valley's second possession of the game. Hancock held Antelope Valley to just nine rushing yards, a minimal amount compared to Hancock's 267 yards. The Bulldogs will try to duplicate its defense's performance in this season's match-up.

Oct. 19 vs. Pasadena City

If this matchup is anything like last season, it should be a thriller. In 2018, Hancock defeated Pasadena City College in overtime 27-21. Pasadena dominated in the time of possession category, but they failed to capitalize on opportunities and allowed the Bulldogs to stay in the game and eventually earn the win in OT.

Oct. 26 vs. Santa Monica

This is Hancock's second-to-last home game of the season. Last season, Hancock shutout Santa Monica, 52-0. During that game, Santa Monica had just 116 total offensive yards, while Hancock matched that number with their passing game alone and added another 418 rushing yards for a total of 534 yards. The Bulldog's defense will try to keep the Corsairs scoreless again this season.

Nov. 2 at Santa Barbara

Hancock will travel down Highway 101 to face off against Santa Barbara and begin the final month of the regular season. Hancock's defense was sensational during last season's matchup. The Vaqueros ended the game with -20 yards on the ground. Hancock's rushing defense helped earn them a 48-14 victory.

Nov. 9 vs. L.A. Pierce

This will be the last opportunity to watch the Bulldogs at home in the 2019 regular season. Last season, Hancock defeated L.A. Pierce 49-24 with 28 of the Bulldog's points scored in the fourth quarter.

Nov. 16 at L.A. Harbor

The Bulldogs will face L.A. Harbor for the final game of the 2019 regular season. The Seahawks were their final opponents on the way to their second straight Pacific League title. Hancock defeated Harbor 55-14, ending the season undefeated in league play 5-0.

Hancock will look to win their third- straight Pacific League championship this season beginning at home on Sept. 14. Don't miss out on the chance to see the Bulldogs take the field with only five home games in Santa Maria. Hancock hopes to see everyone come out and supporting the Bulldogs for the 2019 season.
