Football Holds in Top 15 of Latest Coaches' Poll

SAN MATEO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College football team remained ranked in the latest edition of the JC Athletic Bureau Football Coaches' Poll after a tough showing against No. 4-ranked College of the Canyons last Saturday.

The Bulldogs (4-2) fell three spots to No. 14 after tallying 99 points in the poll. Offensively, Coach Damron's squad is ranked in several categories at the state level, including rushing touchdowns (10 total | 14th), rushing yards (663 | 25th), and passing yards per completion (14.9 yards | 3rd). Maurice Smith ranks 18th with 52.8 rushing yards per game and Jaleel Walker stands at 15th with 16.3 yards per catch. Defensively, Hancock comes in at No. 14 for sacks (17) and at No. 23 for tackles (371). John Sniffen is ranked 12th with 4.5 sacks on the season while Jesse Garza is ranked 16th in total tackles (40) and tackles per game (6.7). The team also leads the state with an average of 41.9 yards per punt off the foot of Colton Theaker

At the conference level, the Bulldogs are one of six National Northern League competitors ranked in the poll. Other league members mentioned in the poll are No. 2 Ventura, No. 4 Canyons, No. 17 Bakersfield, No. 23 Long Beach, and No. 24 East Los Angeles.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Saturday, October 30th, with a home showing versus No. 2 Ventura. The game, which is set to take place on the AHC Football Field, is set to kick off at 2 PM.
