Allan Hancock Football Adds Mike Pomfret to Coaching Staff

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Allan Hancock College head football coach, Seth Damron, has announced the addition of assistant coach Mike Pomfret to the Bulldogs' 2022 coaching staff. He will serve primarily work with the linebackers in the fall. 

"We're very excited to add Coach Pomfret to our staff for the upcoming season," shared Damron. "We have a veteran coaching staff, and he brings quality experience to an already-seasoned group. He has a proven track record for success and recruiting experience at the high school, semi-pro, and collegiate ranks. We're looking forward to great things to come next season."

Pomfret brings more than a decade of coaching experience to the staff while having won championships at the high school, semi-professional, and collegiate levels. Prior to joining the staff at AHC, Pomfret spend one season at Feather River College as the Linebackers Coach & Special Teams Coordinator. He assisted the Golden Eagles to a 10-0 record en route to a league championship while working directly with three All-Conference players and two All-State athletes. 

"The football program at Allan Hancock has a long-standing tradition of success and I can't wait to become a contributing factor to that continuing effort," stated Pomfret. "I'm looking forward to helping Coach Damron and the rest of the staff continue to build and develop a winning culture for the Bulldogs."

Before joining the CCCAA coaching ranks, Pomfret spent two years with the University of Texas football program as a student assistant and graduate assistant, primarily working with the offensive line and tight-ends. Prior to his time with the Longhorns staff, the Ohio native spent four seasons at the high school level in Texas. While in the Lonestar State, Pomfret made a pit stop as the head coach of Killeen Memorial Christian Academy in 2017 before helping Austin Veritas Academy to a state championship title in 2018.

Prior to pursuing a career in coaching, he served in the Active Duty United States Army for six years, half of which as a Squad Leader and NCO, leading soldiers both in garrison and on deployments with the 3rd Cavalry Regiment/3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, as a Cavalry Scout, conducting reconnaissance, direct action, and indirect action operations.

Pomfret grew up in Dayton, Ohio, after immigrating to the United States at the age of five. He earned his Master's in Education at the University of Texas, and his Bachelor's in Science at Texas A&M University-Central Texas.
