Myers Leads Bulldogs to 82-53 Win at Bakersfield Tournament

Teyvon Myers scored a team-high 22 points to lead the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team to an 82-53 win over Reedley to open play at the Bakersfield Tournament on Friday night. The Bulldogs improved to 4-3 on the season. 

Hancock built a commanding 51-32 lead in the first half and never looked back. The Bulldogs shot 47 percent from the floor in the first half and 52 percent for the game. The Bulldogs also made a living at the free throw line in the first twenty minutes and went 15 for 19 for a 78.9 percent mark from the charity stripe. Hancock was 20 for 27 for a 74.1 percent for the game.

Myers led the Bulldogs on 8 for 12 shooting in the game, including 2 of 3 from three-point range. Isaiah Hicks added 15 points to go with a team-high 8 rebounds.  Warren Dix finished with 11 points thanks to two 3-point buckets to give the Bulldogs three players in double-digits.  Sophomore Josh Varney added 9 points and 4 rebounds.

Myers and sophomore Yukijiro Yashiro tallied two steals apiece. Danny Lopez and Dix led Hancock with 3 assists apiece. Lopez added 6 points on the night. 

The Bulldogs continue tournament play against Merritt College at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Merritt beat the host Renegades 78-54 on Friday to improve to 5-2 on the season.
