Minor Named Co-MVP; Willkomm, Miller and Johnson Score All-Conference First Team Honors

The day after capturing a share of the program's first Western State Conference championship in four years, four Allan Hancock College men's basketball players scored All-Conference honors on Sunday.

Sophomore guard Kadeem Minor shared Most Valuable Player honors with Cuesta's Rafael Casanova and LA Pierce's Trey Archambeau. Minor ranked third on the team in scoring at 10.4 points per game. He shot 48 percent from the field and 32 percent from three-point range. The Las Vegas native averaged five rebounds, two assists and one steal per game for the Bulldogs. 

Arroyo Grande High School graduate Matt Willkomm and sophomores Lawrence Johnson and Andre Miller were All-Conference First Team selections.  Willkomm ranked second on the team at 12 points per game. The freshman shot 44.7 percent from the field and a team-leading 39.7 percent from three-point range. He also hit 75.6 percent from the free throw line. Willkomm was the Bulldogs' most consistent scorer in conference play averaging 16.9 points in the 12 contests.

Johnson averaged 15.8 points per game in conference action and led the team overall with a season-average of 13.4 points per game. He made 45 percent of his shots from the floor and 35 percent from three-point range. The sophomore led the team with 3.3 assists per contest.

Miller averaged 8.5 points this season and shot 38.6 percent from three-point range. He was the team's top free throw shooter at 78.6 percent. The sophomore led the team with 5.8 rebounds per game and finished second with 3.2 assists. He earned honorable mention last season when he led the conference with 5.5 assists per game.

Willkomm tied a career-high 26 points, Johnson finished with 19 points, and Miller added eight points, eight steals, eight rebounds and five assists during the Bulldogs' 102-50 win on Saturday over Oxnard. Minor added 18 points and a career-high 11 rebounds to secure his second double-double. The victory improved the team's record to 9-3 in conference and 14-12 overall. The Bulldogs finished conference in a three-way tie for first place with Cuesta and LA Pierce. Cuesta received the conference's automatic berth into the Southern California Regionals. The Bulldogs will learn their postseason fate on Monday when the 20-team SoCal Regionals field is announced. The Bulldogs are looking for their fifth straight appearance in Regionals.
