Willkomm and Rhodes Named to All-Conference First Team, Carney Received Honorable Mention

Allan Hancock College men's basketball players Matt Willkomm and Malik Rhodes have been named to the All-Conference First Team by coaches in the Western State Conference's North Division. Freshman Shane Carney received honorable mention.

Willkomm was named to the First Team for the second straight year. The Arroyo Grande High School graduate averaged 16.4 points per game overall, and 20.8 points in conference games. Willkomm broke the school record this year for most three-pointers made in a single-season with 90. He also holds the record for most career three-point buckets with 150. This season, he scored 10 or more points in 25 of his 28 games. He led the Bulldogs by shooting 44.6 percent from three-point range. He scored a career-high 38 points in a 100-72 win at Oxnard College.

Rhodes was the Bulldogs' leading scorer at 16.9 points and 3.4 assists per game. The freshman scored 10 or more points in 28 of Hancock's 29 games this season. He scored a season-high 31 points and hit 15 of his 16 free throws in Hancock's season-opening 88-85 win over College of the Sequoias.

Carney earned honorable mention after he averaged 12 points per game for the men's basketball team. He averaged 3.3 assists per game. Carney recorded back-to-back double-doubles during conference play. Carney had 12 points and 10 rebounds in an 84-72 win at Santa Barbara. He followed that up with 13 points and 11 assists at Oxnard. He scored a career-high 21 points at LA Pierce.

The men ended the season 4-8 in conference play and 12-17 overall.
