Double-Double From Carney Leads Hancock Men's Basketball to Come-From-Behind Win at Cuesta Tournament

Behind a double-double from sophomore guard Shane Carney, the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team outscored West Hills Coalinga 42-31 in the second half to earn a 74-70 come-from-behind win during day two of a tournament hosted by Cuesta College on Saturday. Hancock evened its record at 1-1.

Carney led the Bulldogs with 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. It marked the sophomore's third double-double of his career.

Marcellus Garrick scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. The sophomore forward sank three 3-point shots.

Sophomore forward Kevawn Lord scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half to help lead the comeback. The transfer also pulled down six boards.

Hancock trailed 39-32 at the half, but gained control in the second half.

Nolan Willett, a freshman guard, added eight points, and freshman Marc Fabricius added seven.

Hancock sank nine 3-pointers, and hit 13 of its 20 free throws.

The Bulldogs will close out the tournament with a 1 p.m. game against West Valley on Sunday.
