No. 20 Hancock Men's Basketball Falls 75-68 to No. 5 Feather River, Bulldogs to Play for Third Place Saturday at Chabot Tournament

Sophomore forward Marcellus Garrick scored 15 points to lead a trio of double-digit scorers for the Bulldogs, but the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team fell to Feather River College 75-68 in the semifinals of the Chabot Tournament on Friday. Hancock's three-game winning streak ended as the Bulldogs dropped to 3-2. Feather River, the No. 5 team in the Northern California Preseason Poll, improved to 3-1.

Sophomore guard Shane Carney scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half to help the Bulldogs carry a 36-35 lead into intermission. Garrick scored eight of his points, and Troy Bolden added seven more in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Erik Kinnebrew led the Hancock offense in the second half. The freshman poured in 10 of his career-best 14 points in the final 20 minutes. However, Hancock was outscored 40-32 in the second half.

The Bulldogs made 16 of their 24 free throws overall. Garrick sank nine of 12 free throws in the contest.

Hancock, the No. 20 team in the Southern California Preseason Poll, will play in the third place game against Lassen College, the No. 19 team in NorCal, at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
