Four Bulldogs Reach Double Digits, But Hancock Men Fall at Cerritos

A quartet of Bulldogs scored in double digits, but the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team fell 103-73 on the road to Cerritos on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs dropped their fourth in a row to fall to 4-7. The Falcons improved to 9-2 after their fourth straight victory.

Kevawn Lord led the Bulldogs with 16 points and five rebounds on a 6-for-11 effort from the field.  Sophomore Marcellus Garrick went 9-for-10 from the free-throw line on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Shemarr Parker scored a career-high 11 points for the Bulldogs, and sophomore center Dominic Jackson added 10 points. Deon Whiteside came off the bench to finish with seven points and five boards.

Hancock shot 50 percent from the floor (24-for-48), and sank 24-of-29 free throws (83 percent).  The Bulldogs committed 23 turnovers that led to 30 points for the Falcons.  

Cerritos drained 39-of-63 shots (62 percent), which included 13 3. Four Falcons reached double figures, led by freshman guard Darryl McMillon, Jr. who had 16 points.  Cerritos' bench outscored Hancock's bench 52-17.

Cerritos scored the first seven points of the game and never looked back. Sophomore Salvador Carlos scored all 15 of his points in the first half to help Cerritos carry a 53-31 lead into halftime.  

Hancock will look to get back on track against Rio Hondo on Thursday, December 15, at a three-day tournament hosted by L.A. Southwest. The Bulldogs will face LA Valley on Dec. 16, and Orange Coast on Dec. 17, as part of the tournament.
