Amari Stroud Commits to Long Beach State

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Allan Hancock College men's basketball standout, Amari Stroud, has committed to continuing his academic and athletic career with Long Beach State University next season.

"I chose Long Beach because I feel like it will be a great fit for me and my next goal," shared Stroud. "They recruited me heavily and have shown interest in me since day one. I also have always dreamed of living in Southern California. Once I got the chance to make that dream a reality, I had to run with it."

Stroud, a Fresno native, is midway through his second season with the Bulldogs. He is currently averaging 15 points per game while shooting 46.4 percent from the field this season. Stroud also leads the team with 8.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. Last season, Stroud finished the shortened schedule with 14 points and nine rebounds per contest while notching three double-double performances through five games. Prior to joining AHC, he spent one season at Chico State University where he saw action in 29 games as a redshirt freshman. Stroud was also named as the North Yosemite League MVP as a senior at Sunnyside High School in 2018.

"The time I've spent here at Allan Hancock has prepared me for the next level in many different ways. The position Coach Aye put me in to contribute to this program has made me become a leader and has helped me develop a more positive attitude, which is needed at the next level," added Stroud. "Off the court, this experience has made me more humble than ever."

Long Beach State University is a Division I member of the NCAA and competes as a member of The Big West conference.
