Men's Basketball: Matt Solomon Commits to Binghamton

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Allan Hancock College men's basketball standout, Matt Solomon, has committed to continuing his academic and athletic career at Binghamton University next season.

"The support I've received from Binghamton has been amazing. Coach Sanders and Coach Johnson have been so supportive and welcoming throughout this whole recruiting process. They are the people that I want to surround myself with, as I know they will better me as a player and as a person. I greatly appreciated their transparency as well," Solomon shared. "The staff believes in me and that's something that I value a lot. Once I got on campus, I immediately loved it and instantly felt so at home. The staff, the players, and just everything about it was amazing. It has also been a dream of mine to play Division I basketball on the east coast. I am so extremely grateful and blessed for the opportunity."

Solomon spent just one season in a Bulldogs uniform before finding his place at the next level. The Newbury Park native averaged 15.9 points per game and collected First Team All-Conference honors after a stellar freshman campaign. The notable sharpshooter ended the season with a red-hot 44.9 shooting percentage from long range after hitting 71 three-pointers. He totaled seven games with 20+ point performances, including a season-high showing of 32 points in the win over Oxnard on February 5th.

"Before I came to Allan Hancock, I lost my love for the game of basketball. It was a rough two years before that. Once I got on campus and met the coaches, the spark lit up for me again. Coach Aye made me feel so at home and pushed me to be great. He was so upfront and is one of the most real, genuine, and honest people I have ever met. He told me what I have to work on to be the player that I wanted to be, never sugarcoating anything. He really challenged me on and off the court, and is someone I can talk to about anything, basketball-related or not," Solomon added. "The players on the team were great to be around as well and I loved my time here. We are truly a family. I also want to thank Coach Kevin, Coach D.No, Coach Connor, and Coach Kurt for bettering me as a player and for showing love to me since day one. I grew tremendously as a person and as a player here, and that's something I'm extremely grateful for."

Binghamton, located in New York, is a Division I member of the NCAA and competes in the America East Conference.
