Men's Basketball: Zachary Asleson Heading to University of Saint Katherine

SAN MARCOS, Calif. - Allan Hancock College men's basketball student-athlete, Zachary Asleson, has committed to continuing his academic and athletic career at the University of Saint Katherine next season.

"I chose the University of Saint Katherine because of the area that the college is located in," Asleson stated. "I also really like the winning culture that they are starting to build over there and I'm looking forward to becoming a part of that culture next season."

Asleson will be moving on after completing one season with the Bulldogs. The Texas native averaged 2.7 points and 1.3 rebounds per game after seeing action in 23 contests. Asleson posted a season-high mark of 12 points in the February contests against Moorpark and finished the year with a 47.1 percent showing from the field.

"Thanks to my coaches and my teammates, I was able to develop my basketball IQ and my knowledge of the game while being here at Allan Hancock," Asleson added. "I came in fresh out of the military with no clue on how fast or hard college basketball can be at this level. Being here helped me overcome that gap and will help me continue to succeed at the next level."

The Firebirds, located in San Marcos, are a member of the NAIA and compete in the California Pacific Conference.
