Men's Basketball: Collin Oestereich Announces Commitment to Warner Pacific

PORTLAND, Ore. - Allan Hancock College men's basketball center, Collin Oestereich, has signed on to continue his academic and athletic career at Warner Pacific (Ore.) University next season.

"I picked Warner Pacific because they recruited me early and showed a lot of effort throughout the entire recruiting process. After a while, the coaching staff started to feel like family," Oestereich shared. "On top of that, two of my teammates - Matt Solomon and Darryl Brooks - also committed there so I knew we would fit right in."

Oestereich, a local product out of Lompoc, spent two seasons on the court with the Bulldogs. As a sophomore, he averaged 3.3 points and 1.8 rebounds per game after appearing in 28 contests. The Lompoc High School grad snagged a career-high of seven rebounds while facing San Jose last November and scored a career-high of 15 points as a freshman against Santa Barbara.

"My time at Hancock gave me a real perspective on the game of basketball at the college level. Coach Aye was a great coach, one of the best I've ever had, and he prepared me for the next level while teaching me a lot of important things. I've never had a coach like that before," Oestereich added. "The whole department at AHC is very nice and cares about the athletes, and I think that it is very rare to find a junior college with the love that Allan Hancock has. I made a lot of friendships and built bonds with guys that I now call brothers from different parts of the US and even some from outside of the country. These are people that I never would have had the opportunity to know if it wasn't for my time here. I truly feel blessed to have gone to Hancock and feel like it definitely prepared me for the real world."

Warner Pacific, located in Portland, is a member of the NAIA and competes in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
