No. 10 Bulldogs Thump No. 23 Antelope Valley in Round One, 98-68

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The No. 10-seeded Allan Hancock College men's basketball team pulled off a convincing 98-68 victory over No. 23 Antelope Valley College at home on Wednesday evening in round one of the 2024 Southern California Regional Tournament. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (23-6) cruised through the opening half after rattling off an early 16-1 run to start things off en route to a 54-29 advantage at the intermission. The hot-handed home squad continued to build on the lead in the second half while outscoring the Marauders (14-15) by five in the final frame.

As a team, Hancock posted a final shooting percentage of 63.5 from the field and limited AVC to just a 30.3 percent finish from the floor. The Bulldogs also dominated inside with a +28 mark in the rebounding column and an impressive total of 40 points in the paint. Antelope Valley's only notable advantage on the night was ball control after they forced 20 AHC turnovers while only committing five of their own. 

Mylo Santos led all scorers with 22 points after an 8-for-12 finish from the field and five made shots at the charity stripe. Noah Haaland and Ay-Keen Richardson followed with 16 points and 15 points, respectively, off the bench. Haaland's scoring came primarily from inside while Richardson worked from distance with four made three-pointers. Jeremyah Aquino rounded out the double figure performers with 11 points, followed by seven points and six blocks from Assad Madassalia. Santos and Jaden Pena were tops for the team with eight rebounds apiece. 

The Bulldogs have advanced to the second round and will now face No. 7 Santiago Canyon College on Saturday, March 2nd, at 5 PM in Orange, Calif. To view the full bracket, please click here.
