MEN'S SOCCER GAINS TIE ON MIRACLE CORNER KICK

SANTA BARBARA-- A corner kick by Victor Velasco with 30 seconds left in the game, somehow found it's way into the net, as the Allan Hancock College men's soccer team earned a tie against Santa Barbara.

Hancock (7-8-6, 5-5-1 WSC North) earned an important point in a very tight conference race. Velasco (So., Santa Maria HS) hit what a golfer would call a slice, and the ball curved right into the goal over several players who were battling for position.

The match also featured the return of goalkeeper Jose Perez (Fr., Santa Ynez). Perez, who had missed the last six games, played brilliantly in the nets, making 10 saves. The only Santa Barbara goal came in the 58th minute when a Vaquero forward ripped a sizzler past Perez before he could react.

AHC had several chances including four corner kicks late in the match, but could not pull the trigger. With the tie, AHC kept themselves within reach of the conference championship

The Bulldogs will be home against Glendale on Tuesday, November 8 at 3:00 p.m.
