Men's Soccer: Juan Montelongo Commits to UC Merced

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Allan Hancock College men's soccer forward, Juan Montelongo, has committed to continuing his academic and athletic career at the University of California Merced next season.

"The reason that I chose to go to UC Merced was because of how new the school is and how much I love the city," Montelongo stated. "There are lots of opportunities here, both on and off the field, and I can see myself growing even more. Visiting the campus felt like living the dream that I have always had for myself. I'm very excited to start this new chapter."

Montelongo has spent two countable, three total, seasons in a Bulldogs uniform. He totaled six points in the fall after registering three goals. The Lompoc High School grad was recognized as a Second Team All-Conference selection in 2019 after a standout freshman season. Throughout his time at AHC, Montelongo has accumulated 21 points after notching a total of eight goals and five assists through 45 games.

"My time here at AHC helped me grow as both an individual and as an athlete," Montelongo added. "Being a student-athlete here was very challenging at times, but it helped lead to a great reward. I'm forever thankful for my family, friends, teammates, and my coaches that have helped me throughout my career here at AHC."

UC Merced is a member of the NAIA and competes in the California Pacific Conference.
