Holt Wins 110 Hurdles at WSC Relays

Freshmen Elijah Holt won his second straight 110 meters high hurdle race of the season to highlight the Allan Hancock College track and field team's performance at the Western State Conference Relays hosted by Ventura College on Friday.

Holt won the event with a season-best time of 15.32 seconds. The Arroyo Grande High School graduate was clocked in 15.49 seconds in the season-opening meet in Bakersfield.

Freshman Leroy Johnson tied for fifth out of 27 men in the long jump with a season-best mark of 6.49 meters or 21 feet, 3.5 inches. He also finished third in the men's triple jump at 13.63 meters or 44 feet, 8.75 inches.

Sophomore thrower Bruce Detter came in third in the hammer throw (28.36 m / 93 feet), as well as fourth in the shot put (11.53 meters/ 37 feet, 10 inches) and the discus throw (33.59 meters / 110 feet, 2 inches) events. The Pioneer Valley High School graduate set a season-best mark in the shot put.

Freshman Gregory Uzueta set a season-best when he finished third in the discus throw (34.54 m/ 113 feet, 4 inches). The Nipomo High School graduate also came in seventh in the javelin (36.66 m/ 120 feet, 3 inches).
