Springer, Keszler, Dionisio Win Individual Events at Bakersfield Relays

Freshmen Brent Dionisio, Jared Springer and Kendrick Keszler won individual events to highlights the Allan Hancock College men's track and field team's performance during the Bakersfield Relays on Saturday. Springer finished in the top four in three events, Dionisio placed in the top three in two events, and Alex Bolton soared to a third place finish in the pole vault. The Bulldogs finished with 70 points to place fourth out of five men's teams.

Dionisio cleared six feet, two inches to win the men's high jump event. He also finished third in the long jump with a season-best mark of 20 feet, five inches.

Springer won the men's shot put with a season-best toss of 44 feet, 8.25 inches. The Nipomo High School graduate finished second in the discus throw with a top throw of 138-10. He later finished fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 127-3. The freshman thrower accounted for 22 total points.

Keszler won the men's javelin throw competition with a top throw of 142-6. Jonathon General finished fith in the event with a toss of 128-2.

Bolton, a St. Joseph High School graduate, cleared 11 feet, 0.25 inch to earn six points for the Bulldogs in the pole vault. Khalil Mondol finished sixth by clearing 10-6 to earn another point for Hanock in the team standings.

Sophomore Francisco Betancourt earned two points with a fifth place finish in the 110 high hurdles. He was clocked in 20.58 seconds. He also earned one point with a sixth place finish in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:12.86.

Hancock returns to action on Friday, March 20, at the Santa Barbara Relays.
