Springer Sets School Record in Hammer Throw, Wins Two Events, Dionisio and Keszler Add Three Top Three Finishes at Easter Relays

Jared Springer set a school record in the hammer throw, won two individual events and finished runner-up in a third, while  Kendrick Keszler and Brent Dionisio combined on three top three finishes for the Allan Hancock College men's track and field team during the 77th annual Easter Relays hosted by Santa Barbara City College on Friday.  The event was a non-scoring meet.

Springer, a freshman, broke three personal-best marks in throwing events. The Nipomo High School graduate won the discus throw with a top mark of 146 feet, six inches. He won the hammer throw with a top toss of 135-10.25, 26 inches farther than his previous top throw and a new school record. Springer also finished runner-up in the shot put and set a new career-high with a toss of 45-8.5, nearly one foot farther than his previous best throw.

Keszler set a personal-best in the long jump with a mark of 20-3, which was good enough for a third place finish. The Nipomo High School graduate cleared 43 feet, ¼ of an inch for a second place finish in the triple jump. He also cleared six feet in the high jump, which resulted in a fifth place finish.

Dionisio tied for second place in the high jump by clearing 6-4.

Also, during the meet sophomore Brian Santiago ran personal-best times in the 800 meter run (2:13.25) and in the 1,500 (4:27.65).

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, March 27, when Cuesta hosts the Western State Conference Coastal Meet.
