Mondol Sets Five Personal-Bests During Decathlon at Cal State Northridge

Khalil Mondol set five personal-best marks, while Allison Molesky recorded two during the two-day Northridge Invitational Meet at the Matador Track Complex. Mondol, a sophomore, finished tenth in the men's decathlon competing in a field of athletes only from four-year universities. Molesky finished 15th in the women's heptathlon, finishing ahead of one athlete from Idaho State, a four-year university. 

Mondol set personal-bests in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.81 seconds for 501 points. His mark of 107 feet, six inches was another personal-best in the javelin throw. He set career-highs in the long jump (17 feet), 400 meter dash (59.76 seconds) and in the shot put (23-4.5). Mondol recorded a total of 3,214 points over 10 events. Idaho State's Logan Henderson finished first with 7,116 points.

Mondol, a Righetti High School graduate, also cleared 10-4 in the pole vault to finish eighth out of 11 athletes in the event. He also finished tenth out of 11 in the discus throw with a top mark of 76-10.

Molesky, a freshman, set personal-bests in the shot put with a top throw of 21 feet, 2.5 inches, and in the javelin throw with a mark of 41-9. The Nipomo High School graduate also performed well in the 200 meter dash with a time of 30.03 seconds, which ranked 16th out of 18 athletes. She cleared 4-4 in the high jump, which was better than two other athletes. Her time of 19.23 seconds in the 100 yard hurdles was also better than four other women in the field.
