Springer and Dionisio Finish Eighth and Ninth in SoCal Finals

The impressive freshman seasons of Jared Springer and Brent Dionisio ended on Saturday at the CCCAA Southern California Championships at Cerritos College.

Springer finished eighth in the men's hammer throw event with a school record toss of 156 feet, seven inches. Mitch Dixon of Saddleback won with a top throw of 187-1.  The Nipomo High School graduate also finished ninth in the men's shot put final with a top throw of 46-10. Frank Clarke of Riverside won with a mark of 52-7.5.  Among his many accomplishments this season, Springer holds the school record in the hammer throw and won the Western State Conference individual title in the discus throw.

Dionisio finished ninth in the men's high jump final with a top clearance of 6-3.5. William Ingram of El Camino won by clearing 6-5.5.

The top four in each event advanced to the CCCAA State Championships.
