Nevitt Wins Two Events, Nickelson and Naugle Finish Second at WSC Relays

Freshman Taylor Nevitt won two throwing events, while Rachel Naugle and Luke Nickelson finished runner-up to highlight the Allan Hancock College track and field team's efforts during the Western State Conference Relays hosted by Ventura College on Friday.

Nevitt won the women's discus throw event with a top mark of 124 feet, one inch. The redshirt freshman won by nearly 16 feet. The Nipomo High School graduate also won the women's shot put with a top mark of 36-10.25.

Nickelson's top mark in the long jump was 21 feet, 8.75 inches, which earned him second place out of 38 competitors. The Nipomo High School graduate also finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 42-11. Later, the freshman finished sixth in the men's high jump with a top clearance of 5-11.5.

Naugle finished second in the women's 5,000 meter run with a time of 19:16.18, about 36 seconds behind the winner.

Sophomore thrower Monica Pulido, a Righetti High School graduate, finished third in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 77-7.

Freshman Alec De Leon came in fourth in the men's 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:15.15.

The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday, February 28 at the Western State Confernece North Meet at Bakersfield College.
