Nickelson Soars to Triple Jump Title at Antelope Valley Invite

Luke Nickelson won the men's triple jump and finished runner-up in another event to lead the Allan Hancock College track and field team during an invitational hosted by Antelope Valley College on Friday.

Nickleson won the men's triple jump with a mark of 44 feet, 0.5 inch. The freshman also finished second in the men's long jump with a mark of 21 feet, 6.25 inches. The Nipomo High School graduate also finished fifth overall in the high jump by clearing 6-1.25.

Darrlynotay Jones finished third in the men's javelin throw event with a top mark of 141-1.

On the women's side, Rachel Naugle finished sixth out of 27 in the women's 1,500 with a time of 5:07.86. Later, she finished eighth in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 12:26.55. Monica Pulido finished sixth in the javelin throw with a top mark of 77 feet.

A handful of Bulldogs may compete at the Cal Poly Invitational on Saturday, March 26. The next Western State Conference meet will be on Friday, April 1 at Cuesta.
