Nevitt Earns Triple Crown, Nickelson Wins Long Jump at WSC Coastal Meet

Taylor Nevitt won three women's throw events, and Luke Nickelson won the men's long jump to lead the Allan Hancock College men's and women's track teams at the Western State Conference Coastal Meet on Friday afternoon. The Hancock men finished sixth with 34 total points. The Bulldog women came in fifth with 47 points. The Ventura women and Cuesta men won the WSC Coastal Meet.

Nevitt finished first in the women's shot put with a mark of 37 feet, eight inches. The freshman also won the discus throw with a mark of 124-11.25. The Nipomo High School graduate also won the javelin throw event with a top mark of 82-5. She came in fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 101-0.25.

Sophomore thrower Monica Pulido finished third in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 81-2.5. Middle distance runner Rachel Naugle came in third in the women's 800 meter run with a time of 2:35.20.

Nickelson won the men's long jump competition with a mark of 22-6. He finished runner-up in the triple jump with a top distance of 45-7.25. The Nipomo High School graduate also finished third in the high jump by clearing 6-3.

Alec De Leon finished sixth in the men's 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:11.87 to earn two points toward the team's score. Steven Youngblood finished ninth with a time of 4:15.89.

Hancock will return to action next Saturday, April 9 at a meet hosted by Glendale College.
