Nickelson Wins Triple Jump at Glendale's Vaquero Classic

Freshman Luke Nickelson won the men's triple jump event during the annual Vaquero Classic hosted by Glendale College on Saturday. The Nipomo High School graduate won a season-best mark of 45 feet, 8.5 inches. He won by nearly four feet. Nickelson also finished seventh out of 34 athletes in the long jump with a top mark of 20-10.5.

Steven Youngblood finished 25th out of 49 in the men's 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:19.68. Later, the Pioneer Valley High School and UCLA graduate finished 16th in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:38.27.

On the women's side, Rachel Naugle finished fourth in the 5K with a time of 19:33.70.

Taylor Nevitt finished fourth in the women's discus throw with a top toss of 119-3. The Nipomo High School graduate finished fourth out of 16 in the shot put with a mark of 37-8.5.

The Bulldogs will compete at the Hartnell Invitational on Saturday, April 16.
