Track & Field Primed for Western State Conference Championship Prelims

LANCASTER, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College track & field teams are set to open the postseason campaign by competing in the Western State Conference Championship Prelims on Friday, April 21st, at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster. | PERFORMANCE LIST

The event will feature preliminary races for all running events with the top seven finishers set to advance to the Western State Conference Championship Finals next week. On the field side of the house, three events - long jump, hammer throw, and shot put - will serve as final events this Friday. The steeplechase, javelin, discus, and triple jump events will not take place until the following week. 

Reann Booker leads the shorthanded women's program on the track and will enter the event with the second-fastest times amongst all WSC competitors in both the 100m and 200m races. In both events, Booker's times are less than three-tenths of a second off from the top mark in the conference. 

On the men's side, the Bulldogs are highlighted by three athletes in field events. Nasim Moody and Jordan Smith have the 3rd and 6th best marks in the long jump, respectively, while Caleb Gretlein is ranked 5th in the hammer throw and 9th in the shot put. 

The top eight runners in the sprint events and top twelve finishers in distance races move on to the Western State Conference Finals on April 28th at Moorpark College. The top seven individuals in the field events and the 10,000-meter run automatically advanced to the SoCal Regional Prelims at San Diego Mesa College on May 6th.
