Track & Field Advances Two Runners to WSC Finals, Qualifies Two for SoCal Regional Prelims

LANCASTER, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College track & field programs found success at the 2023 Western State Conference Prelims on Friday afternoon. The event was hosted by Antelope Valley College in Lancaster. | COMPLETE RESULTS

On the women's side, Reann Booker and Itandehui Olea will represent the Bulldogs in running events next week after qualifying performances in their respective events. Booker will race in two events at the finals after qualifying in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash. She earned a third place finish in both events at the prelims after posting times of 12.46 seconds and 25.65 seconds, respectively. Olea finished in 11th place in the 1,500m race after clocking a final time of 5:24.10.

On the men's side, Jordan Smith and Caleb Gretlein qualified for the SoCal Regional Prelims with solid performances in field events. Smith qualified by way of a fifth place finish in the long jump after a leap of 6.41 meters. Gretlein advanced after finishing fifth in the hammer throw with a heave of 34.53 meters. 

The top eight runners in the sprint events and the top twelve finishers in distance races automatically qualify to move on to the Western State Conference Finals on April 28th at Moorpark College. The top seven individuals in the field events and the 10,000-meter run automatically advanced to the SoCal Regional Prelims at San Diego Mesa College on May 6th.
