Track & Field: Booker Leads Bulldogs at WSC Championship

MOORPARK, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College track & field teams wrapped up Western State Conference action while competing in the WSC Championship, hosted by Moorpark College, on Friday afternoon. | RESULTS

Reann Booker led the way for the Bulldogs with a third place finish in the women's 100m race after clocking a time of 12.32 seconds. She also secured a fifth place slot in the 200m dash after turning in a time of 25.41 seconds. Yasmin Mendez also secured a fifth place mark in the steeplechase while Itandehui Olea rounded out the women's program by landing in seventh during the 1,500m race and ninth in the 800m race. 

On the men's side, Cesar Ruiz led the short staff after placing sixth with a heave of 35.94 meters in the discus. Jordan Smith also earned a top ten finish after placing ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.51 meters. Jacob Burr rounded out the top performers with a 10th place mark in the javelin after a toss of 42.52 meters. 

Official qualifiers for the SoCal Championship, which is set to begin on May 5th, are anticipated to be announced by Wednesday. The two-day event will be hosted on the campus of San Diego Mesa College.
