Track & Field: Three Bulldogs Set to Compete at SoCal Championship

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College track & field programs will send three student-athletes on to compete at the 2023 Southern California Championship after a successful showing at the SoCal Prelims on Friday. The final event will take place at San Diego Mesa College on May 12th. 

Reann Booker qualified on the women's side in the 100 meter dash after placing 9th in the preliminary race with a final time of 12.37 seconds. She also competed in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 18th after clocking a time of 26.60 seconds. Itandehui Olea also ran at the event, placing 18th in the 1,500 meter race (5:14.26), but did not qualify for the championship event. 

Nasim Moody and Cesar Ruiz will represent the men's program at the next meet in a pair of field events. Moody advances after placing 5th in the long jump with a mark of 6.88 meters. Ruiz will compete for the first time at the regional level in both the preliminary and final rounds of the discus on Friday. Jordan Smith appeared in the long jump and triple jump but did not qualify to advance after finishing in 22nd in both events, while Caleb Gretlein rounded out the non-qualifying performances with a 22nd place performance in the hammer throw.
