Softball Cruises Past Ventura in 9-1 Win

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball program picked up another Western State Conference (North) win while hosting Ventura College on Tuesday afternoon in a 9-1 decision. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (14-13, 4-2) jumped out early after putting up six unanswered runs through the first three frames. Danica Black got things started with an RBI single up the middle in the first before making her way home after a sacrifice fly. Jonessa Marquez used a single through the right side to plate another in the second before Delayna Quezada brought two runners home with a double to left center.

Marquez closed out the rally in the third after a triple to center scored the sixth runner of the game. Ventura (1-21, 1-5) broke the shutout in the fifth by plating an unearned run, but the Bulldogs bounced back with a three-run streak to end the game early in the bottom of the sixth.

Quezada collected her eighth win of the season in the circle after twirling all six innings. She struck out one batter and scattered six hits with no earned runs on her stat line.

Coach Maumausolo's squad will continue league action on Thursday, March 28th, with a trip to Santa Barbara City College.
