Hancock Falls to Mission 69-49 Despite Double-Double From Sua
Veronica Sua scored a season-high 13 points and pulled down a season-best 13 rebounds, but the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team fell 69-49 to Mission College on Sunday in the consolation game at the West Hills-Lemoore Tournament. The Bulldogs fell to 9-5 overall, while Mission improved to 6-7.
Hancock shot just 29 percent in the game by hitting 15 of its 51 shots from the floor. The Bulldogs were just 4 for 11 from the free throw line.
Hancock trailed 42-29 at the half and was outscored 27-20 in the second half.
Ali Rodriguez and Emma Weinreich scored 10 points apiece. Rodriguez was 4 for 17 from the floor, including 2 for 10 from 3-point range. The freshman added 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Sua added 4 steals to her line.
Celina Calderon, a Lompoc High School graduate, added 8 points on a 3 for 7 effort from the floor to go with 3 steals.
Justine Roland, who entered averaging almost 14 points and 11 rebounds per game, was limited to just 1 point to go with 10 rebounds. The Righetti High School graduate missed all 13 of her shots.
Pioneer Valley High School graduate Nicole DeLaGuerra added 7 points off the bench
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, Dec.27 at home against Hartnell. The game is set to begin at 3 p.m.
