Bulldogs Blow Out Brahmas on Sophomore Night

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball program topped LA Pierce College in a decisive 84-23 decision on Friday evening inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (15-11, 7-4 WSC) led wire-to-wire in the contest while a swarming defense held Pierce (2-18, 0-12 WSC) to zero points in the opening frame. The victory keeps Coach Nerelli's squad in third place amongst the northern foes in the Western State Conference with one game remaining in the regular season. Prior to the start of the game, the Bulldogs honored the 2022 sophomore class which included Jayci Bayne, Jewelia Maniss, Kayla Taylor, and Jessika Earley

For just the third time this season, all competing players for AHC registered points in the box score after the full team effort. Bayne had a career-high night after pouring in 35 points, including six shots from long range. She also stuffed the stat sheet by adding six rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block. Taylor anchored the Bulldogs on the inside with 14 rebounds and a season-high mark of 20 points en route to a double-double showing. Earley set a career-high mark after dishing out nine assists while Maniss tacked on nine rebounds. 

The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action on Monday, February 21st, for their final make-up contest of the season against Oxnard College. Tip-off for the event is slated for 6 PM.
