Bulldogs Fall Twice at Comet Crossover

SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team suffered a pair of losses at the Comet Crossover, a two-day event hosted by Palomar College.

GAME ONE: AHC 38, PALOMAR 69 | BOX SCORE

Ball handling errors and a slow first quarter doomed the Bulldogs in the event opener against the hosting Comet crew, who entered the season as the No. 1 ranked team in the southern region. Hancock found a positive note on the day after going 22-for-28 from the charity stripe, but allowed Palomar to convert 36 AHC turnovers for 36 points on the opposite end while being outrebounded at a 46-38 margin.

India Dowling-Green led the way with nine points, followed by eight from Chloe Blankenship. Dowling-Green and Mallory Branum posted team-high marks on the boards after grabbing six apiece while Branum snagged a career-high of five steals.

GAME TWO: AHC 63, MT. SAN JACINTO 68 | BOX SCORE

Hancock bounced back in game two with a strong opening quarter, but an offensive stall in the second frame proved to be the difference against Mt. San Jacinto College, the southern region's No. 4 ranked team. Despite the slow second quarter, neither team was able to build more than an eight-point lead at any time.

Alexandria Paquet was tops for the Bulldogs after pouring in 19 points off the bench, followed by 13 points and four assists from Giselle Calderon. Kayla Taylor rounded out the top scorers for Hancock's squad with 11 points and six rebounds.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back in the home opener on Tuesday, November 22nd, against Reedley College. Tickets for the game, which is scheduled to tip-off at 1 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium, can be purchased at ahcbulldogs.com/ticketing or with a credit/debit card at the gate.
