Bulldogs Top Gavilan in Decisive Road Victory

GILROY, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team was firing on all cylinders on Thursday evening after pulling off a lopsided 93-31 victory at Gavilan College. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (8-5) led from the start after jumping out to a 40-6 lead at the end of the first frame and continued to control the pace throughout the contest. The visiting crew shot a red-hot 62.5 percent (15-for-24) from the three-point line while finishing the evening with an overall mark of 50.7 percent from the field. The hosting Rams (0-10) did win the rebounding battle at a 43-33 margin, but were forced to commit 41 turnovers that Hancock converted for 55 points on the opposite end.

Five members of the Hancock squad closed the night in double figures and all participants registered at least one basket, led by Giselle Calderon. The Orcutt Academy alum poured in 20 points, including a career-high number of six made shots from distance, while also adding five assists and as many rebounds. Mya Mendoza and Chyanna Tell added 18 and 16 points, respectively, off the bench while combining for seven made attempts from beyond the arc. Kayla Taylor (11 points) and Mallory Branum (10 points) rounded out the fleet of double-digit scorers. Chloe Blankenship snagged a team-high total of eight rebounds while Alexandria Paquet dished top marks with five steals and eight assists. 

The Bulldogs are set to return to action with a two-day road trip to compete at the Glendale Holiday Crossover on December 21-22. The event will begin with a rematch against Glendale College on Wednesday evening before closing with a contest versus College of the Canyons on Thursday afternoon.
