Women's Basketball Extends Win Streak to Six in League Opener

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Five members of the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team finished in double figures en route to the program's sixth straight win after topping Oxnard College, 77-44, in the Western State Conference opener on Saturday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (12-5, 1-0 WSC) jumped out early while working to build a 12-point advantage at the end of the opening frame and cruised to victory through the remainder of the contest. Hancock closed the event with a 43.3 percent finish from the field and limited Oxnard (2-8, 0-2 WSC) to an even 32 percent tally, while both teams struggled from distance after recording 25 percent showings from the three-point line. Coach Scott's squad also dominated the inside game, outscoring the Condors at a 44-18 margin in the paint.

Alexandria Paquet led all scorers on the day with 26 points after a 9-for-19 effort from the field, which included three shots from beyond the arc, and a 5-for-6 finish from the charity stripe. She also registered eight steals, four rebounds, and three assists. Mallory Branum added 12 points to the mix while Kayla Taylor and Mya Mendoza chipped in with 11 apiece. India Dowling-Green rounded out the list of top scorers with a double-double performance that featured 12 rebounds and 10 points. Taylor also tacked on nine rebounds and six steals while Dowling-Green dished out a team-high of five assists. 

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Wednesday, January 11th, with a trip to Cuesta College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 PM in San Luis Obispo.
