Eleven Bulldogs Land on WSC All-Conference List for Women's Soccer, Coaching Staff Claims Superlative Award

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - After a historic season, the Allan Hancock College women's soccer team set another program-best mark by placing 11 Bulldogs on the list of All-Conference honorees for the Western State Conference (North). The Bulldogs coaching staff, headed by Billy Vinnedge, was honored as the Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the AHC squad to a Co-Champion finish in the regular season.

Five members of the Hancock crew picked up First Team All-Conference designations. Cynthia Ramirez, a freshman from Arroyo Grande, led the way for the Bulldogs with 25 goals and 13 assists on the season en route to a final point total of 63. She now holds single-season records for the program in all three of those categories while ranking second amongst all individual CCCAA competitors for goals and points.

Hancock's core group of defenders - Ana Delgado, Leslie Ramirez, Jessica Gil, and Hope Smith - also picked up First Team honors. The quartet of backline defense combined for eight shutouts on the season and surrendered 13 goals through 20 games.

Smith, a sophomore alum from Orcutt Academy, received her second postseason award after also being an Honorable Mention selection in 2021. Gil, a sophomore transfer from Waldorf (Iowa) University, also received her second collegiate postseason award after previously being named as a First Team All-League defender while competing in the North Star Athletic Association.

L. Ramirez, a recent graduate of Cabrillo High School, closed her freshman campaign with nine points after registering one game-winning goal and seven assists. Delgado, also a Cabrillo High School alum, registered three points with one goal and one assist.

Four Bulldogs were tabbed as Second Team All-Conference honorees. Ally Britt and Maya Mendek, who split work in the goal throughout the season, were both honored as Second Team selections. Britt, a sophomore keeper, received the same award at the conclusion of the 2021 season. The Santa Maria native collected 35 saves and allowed just nine goals through 18 appearances. Mendek, a freshman from Lompoc, snagged 34 saves and allowed seven goals through 16 games in goal.

Alina Terrones, a freshman forward from Lompoc, tallied six points with three game-winning goals on the season. Hayde Gallardo, a sophomore midfielder, also landed a Second Team nod for the second straight year. The transfer from Waldorf closed her sophomore campaign with 12 points after recording four goals and four assists.

Estrella Guzman and Kaihla Lopez rounded out the award winners after being named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention list. The pair of freshmen both closed out their first seasons on the pitch with 13 points after notching five goals, including one game-winner apiece, and three assists.

The 2022 campaign was the most successful season in program history for the women's soccer team after the Bulldogs secured an overall record of 15-2-5 and a share of the Western State Conference title. The program also made the deepest postseason run on record after topping Orange Coast in the opening round of the SoCal Regional Playoffs before falling to Mt. San Antonio College in the second round.
