Records Fall as Swim & Dive Compete in 45th Cuesta Finis Invitational

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A slew of school records were broken by the Allan Hancock College swimming & diving programs during a three-day outing at Cuesta College. The weekend of events opened with the Cuesta Sprint Meet on Thursday before action began with the 45th Cuesta Finis Invitational on Friday and Saturday. 

The women's team finished the weekend in 6th place through the field of 18 after totaling a final score of 355.5. Noemi Bravo Guzman highlighted the weekend by breaking seven school records and snagging two first place finishes. She becomes the new record holder in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard butterfly, and the 400-yard individual medley. Emma Marsalek also had a successful outing that included a top performance in the 1,650-yard freestyle and a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle. Jada Brown took fourth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:27.94) while Marsalek finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.70). 

The men's team took 8th place in the field of 12 with a final tally of 234. Jericho Orcino led the way with a fourth place finish in the 400-yard individual medley (4:39.47) and a fifth place showing in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.62). Isaiah Lopez rounded out the top individual finishers after taking fifth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:47.30).

The Bulldogs will return to the Western State Conference schedule on Saturday, March 16th, for WSC Mini Meet #2 in Ventura.
