Bulldogs Travel to El Camino on Wednesday

The men's basketball team will hit the road to take on El Camino on Wednesday, November 25 at 5 p.m. Hancock is coming off a 3-1 home stand that included taking two out of three games during the inaugural Home Motors Invitational.  Hancock is 4-3 overall to start the season.

The Bulldogs upset Marin, the No. 8 team in the state preseason poll, their last time out on Sunday, 62-60 to close out the Home Motors Invitational. Matt Willkomm (Arroyo Grande HS) hit the game-winning three-pointer with three seconds left on the clock. Freshman guard Malik Rhodes (Clark Montessori) led Hancock in the upset with 15 points, while Jeremiah Headley (Redondo Union HS) added 12, all on threes.

Also during the three-day tournament, Hancock routed Napa 87-55 before dropping a 79-69 game to Yuba, the sixth ranked team in California. Willkomm led the Bulldogds with 18 points, while freshman forward Joe Riley (Franklin HS) added 13 points against Napa. Rhodes poured in 23, while freshman guard Shane Carney (Narbonne HS) scored a career-best 20 points against Yuba.

Overall, Rhodes leads the team at 16.6 pointsand 3.3 assists  per game, followed by Willkomm at 12 and Carney at eight. Freshman Tim Ford (Colony HS) eads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game.

The El Camino Warriors are off to a 1-5 start and coming off a 64-57 loss to Rio Hondo, and a 105-70 loss to Fresno, the fifth ranked team in the state preseason poll. The Warriors average 65 points per game. They're led by sophomore guard Dantay Blanson who averages 9.2 points, Brandon Guerrero at 8.8 points, and Isiah Armstead who averages 6.5 points per game. El Camino as a team has shot 39 percent from the field, including 27 percent from three-point range.

After the trip to El Camino, Hancock returns to action at home on Friday, Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. against Cerritos, the No. 13 team in the preseason state poll.
