Nicolini Fires 76, Hancock Finishes 5th at WSC Tournament #3

Alejandro Nicolini carded a four-over par 76 to help lead the Allan Hancock College men's golf team to a fifth place finish at the third Western State Conference men's golf tournament of the season on Monday. The tournament took place at the Rio Bravo Country Club in Bakersfield.

Canyons won its third straight team competition. The Cougars carded a 372 for an 18-stroke victory. Santa Barbara finished second with a 390, followed by Ventura at 396. The host Renegades finished fourth with a 406, followed by Hancock, Glendale (414), Antelope Valley (420) and Citrus (420).

Canyon's Sidney Wolf earned medalist honors with a 2-under par 70.

Hancock freshmen Landon Brown, Triston Ioppini, Corey Lockaton each carded a 10-over 82. Shawn Brackett, a St. Joseph High School graduate, finished with a 12-over 84 for the Bulldogs.

Through three WSC tournament, Canyons sits in first place overall (21-0), Santa Barbara in second (17-4), Ventura in third (16-5), and Hancock is tied for fourth with Citrus (8-13). Bakersfield (7-14), Glendale (4-17) and Antelope Valley (3-18) round out the bottom three.

The Bulldogs will play in the two-day Santa Barbara Invitational on Sunday, March 2, at Marshallia Ranch and Monday, March 3, at La Purisima. Both courses are in Lompoc.
