Led by Roxbrough, Bulldogs Finish 7th at WSC #3

Justin Roxbrough carded an eight-over 80 to lead the Allan Hancock College men's golf team during the third Western State Conference tournament of the season. Bakersfield College hosted the tournament at the Rio Bravo Country Club on Monday.

Roxbrough, a sophomore and Atascadero High School graduate, led the Bulldog contingency on the par 72 course. Sophomores Shawn Brackett finished with an 83 and Alejandro Nicolini shot an 84. Triston Ioppini and freshman Robert Zimkowski fired 88s.

Hancock finished with a total score of 423 strokes. College of the Canyons won the tournament with a total score of 386. Santa Barbara City College finished second two strokes behind, followed by Ventura (394) and Citrus College (406). The host Renegades finished sixth (420), and Antelope Valley College finished eighth with a 426.

Santa Barbara's Jonny Hogan earned medalist honors with a one-under 71. Hogan captured medalist honors for the second straight week. 

After three tournaments, Canyons sits atop the conference standings (21-0), followed by SBCC (18-3), Glendale (12-9), Ventura (11-10), Citrust (9-12), Bakersfield (6-15), Hancock (4-17) and Antelope Valley (3-18).

The Bulldogs return to action on March 9 at a conference tournament hosted by Ventura at the River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard.
