Nicolini Leads Bulldogs to Fifth Place Finish at WSC Meet #5

Sophomore Alejandro Nicolini carded a five-over par 77 to lead the Allan Hancock College men's golf team to a fifth place finish at the fifth Western State Conference tournament of the season. Antelope Valley hosted the tournament at the Antelope Valley Country Club in Palmdale.

Nicolini finished tied for tenth place in the individual standings. Freshman Robert Zimkowski shot a 78 to finish tied for 15th. Sophomores Triston Ioppini and Justin Roxbrough, both Atascadero High School graduates, finished with scores of 79 and 82. Shawn Brackett carded an 84 for the Bulldogs.

Overall, Hancock finished with a team score of 400. College of the Canyons won the meet with a score of 367, followed by Antelope Valley with 390, Santa Barbara City with 394 and Ventura College with 399. Glendale, Citrus and Bakersfield finished sixth through eighth respectively.

Canyons' golfer Eric Kim won individual medalist honors with a three-under 69.

After five conference tournaments, Hancock sits in seventh place overall at 9-26. Canyons sits atop the standings with a 34-1 record, followed by Santa Barbara (30-5) and Ventura (21-14). The Bulldogs trail Antelope Valley College (10-25). Bakersfield is in eighth place.
