Bulldogs Batter Chaffey 8-0 in Five Innings at Mt. San Jacinto Tournament

Jessica Rothanzl and Judith Salazar clubbed home runs and Katie Chenault struck out 11 in the Allan Hancock College softball team's 8-0 five-inning win over Chaffey on Saturday during the third and final day of the Mt. San Jacinto Tournament. The Bulldogs improved to 3-1-1 at the tournament and 5-2-1 overall.

Salazar put the Bulldogs on the board in the second inning with shot over the left-center field wall, her first home run of the season. Michaela Valencia delivered a twoout, two-run double to the left field wall to score Ashley Ruiz and Monique Hoobery. Megan Love followed with a RBI-double to right center to score Valencia to cap a four-run rally. Hancock added to its lead with a RBI triple from Ruiz in the third and a two-run home run to left from Rothanzl in the fourth.

Hancock tallied 12 hits against Chaffey starter Monique Bernal. Love and Rothanzl had three hits apiece. Hoobery collected two hits.

Chenault allowed just three hits and two walks over five shutout innings. She struck out 11, including three in both the second and fourth innings.
